FATOUAKRO, SAN PEDRO- 9th Oct 2021 COPAFA- San Pedro
We started this cooperative because as farmers we were struggling to sell our beans in spite of all our hard work. Our cooperative was created in 2004 with 260 members. Now we have 225 members. We had to let some of our member go because they were farming in reserved forests, which is wrong. Our friendship with Barry Callebaut started in 2007 but it was in 2014 that we started collaborating on development projects together.

Barry Callebaut (SACO) has been very helpful to us. They built us a big warehouse, helped us get vehicles and they give us insecticides and fertilizers which really help our farmers. We also value all the training our farmers receive from SACO. We’ve also received shade trees which we’ve distributed to our farmers. They also monitor our farms to make sure there are no cases of Child Labour.
